Wesley Fofana tasted victory for the first time this season on Saturday afternoon. The Frenchman completed a £70 million move from Leicester City to Chelsea in the latter stages of the summer transfer window and was thrown in at the deep end by Thomas Tuchel against West Ham United. After just three training sessions with the Blues, Fofana lined up alongside fellow summer signing Kalidou Koulibaly and seasoned veteran Thiago Silva in the heart of defence. And it was a pretty promising debut by the 21-year-old.Overall, Chelsea were far from their all-conquering best, but Fofana was certainly one of the better performers from both sides on the day.The former Saint Etienne man was comfortable in possession and seemed to strike up some chemistry with right-wing back, Reece James.Sure, it wasn't a pragmatic or ball-playing masterclass by Fofana at Stamford Bridge, but it was a performance that showed a lot of promise.Take a look for yourself...

Not bad, not bad at all. The tackle towards the very end of the video was absolute perfection and helped kickstart an attack for Thomas Tuchel's side.

Here's how some Chelsea fans reacted to Fofana's debut performance:

They like what they saw from Fofana, although Chelsea supporters will be eager for the team to start keeping clean sheets again after a fairly shaky start to the 2022/23 season.

The Blues conceded twice in the home draw against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, before being hammered 3-0 by Leeds United.

Chelsea also failed to keep out both Leicester City and Southampton, although they did beat the latter 2-1 with 10 men.

Tuchel's side haven't recorded a clean sheet since their 1-0 opening day victory over an injury-hampered Everton and that will be of huge concern to the manager - especially when the club have spent so much money on defenders over the summer months.

Fofana's task will be to reverse that negative trend as quickly as possible, starting with Chelsea's trip to Fulham next Saturday after Champions League duty in the week.

Marco Silva's team have started the campaign brightly and only narrowly lost out to Spurs on Saturday.

A clean sheet is far from a formality for Chelsea when they travel to Craven Cottage, especially with the in-form Aleksandar Mitrovic leading the line for the hosts...
