Tai Tuivasa took on Ciryl Gane at UFC Paris last night and it’s already being called an absolute classic by fans around the world thanks in large parts to its brutal but also respectful nature.

The pair were embroiled in a brutal clash in the Octagon, with Gane landing a range of destructive blows to his opponent, but he wasn’t for budging.

It took until the third round for Gane to finally get the knockout, but it probably should have come sooner on in that very round as he delivered one of the most vicious kicks to the chin of Tai Tuivasa, but he didn’t even go down.

He managed to stay on his feet and continue to battle on in the round, much to the shock of all those watching. When continuing, he missed his attempted strikes like he had done during the majority of the fight prior to his defeat. It was all over later in the round, with Gane now looking to be the number one challenger to take on Francis Ngannou.

The Cameroonian is still the heavyweight champion despite being injured since his last victory back in January this year when he got the better of Gane himself.

However, it appears that he has learnt from his mistakes in the Octagon during that bout and has gone from strength to strength, including that incredible performance this weekend.

Parisians getting their first taste of UFC in their home country were treated to a classic, fought out in high spirits in a refreshing change from the trash talking feuds we see more often than not.

At one point, Gane lands a lowish kick on his opponent, just above the area no man wants to receive any sort of shot, let alone a kick from a UFC heavyweight!

Thankfully for Tai Tuivasa, it just missed his crown jewels and he didn’t appear in any genuine discomfort from the strike.

He moved back and laughed at Gane, signalling to his stomach that his minimal amounts of chub managed to protect him from a much more painful blow.

Gane himself is laughing too, ensuring the referee doesn’t think it was a low blow, and to be fair, although it looks bad, surely there’s no way Tai Tuivasa would be completely unbothered if he had connected there.

We don’t know what comes next for the heavyweight who’s ranked third in the world, but we do know he’ll certainly entertain us if he carries on performing like he did in Paris.
