In the latest of our fan preview articles, we turn our attention to the AFC East, the division that contains what many people think will be this year's Super Bowl winners.

The AFC East is a division that is going through something of a seismic change when it comes to who is in charge. After being dominated by Tom Brady and the New England Patriots for the best part of two decades, now we see the Buffalo Bills take control having won the division in the last two years, and with the team they've assembled there's no reason to think that they won't be in control for years to come.

But sitting behind the big boys you have the up-and-coming Miami Dolphins and New York Jets who are in the hands of their young quarterbacks of Tua Tagovailoa and Zach Wilson respectively.

But there is far more to a team than their quarterbacks, as some of the answers below will testify to. We reached out to a number of fans from all teams in the AFC East and asked them their views on their respective franchises, asking five of the same questions to each responder before giving them one unique question each, after which we will reveal our prediction for how the division will look come the end of the regular season.

New England Patriots, @Russ_Goldman

What went well for you last season?

I was against the decision to start Mac Jones as a rookie, but because of this decision, he has progressed faster than I had hoped. The Patriots' future is tied to the success of Jones, and I am encouraged by what I have watched in year one.

What area do you need to improve on?

The Pats are turning over their defense and this is a concern. The linebacker corp needed to get younger and faster, and we are seeing this growth in training camp. The defensive line along with the cornerbacks are both a work in progress, but I am hopeful that it will come together. On offense, they need to get more production from the wide receivers and we shall see if there is a jump in year two with Mac Jones as the quarterback.

How confident are you going into this year and what do you expect your record to be?

I am very hopeful this season and it might surprise some, but I am predicting 12-5 with the Patriots winning the division. The Pats spent big two seasons ago and this season they will reap the rewards of that spending. The Bills will take a step back because of offensive coordinator Brian Daboll moving on to the Giants. He was vital in the development of Josh Allen.

Who is winning MVP and the Super Bowl?

MVP is nothing I am interested in so I have no opinion on it. I care about who wins the Super Bowl, and I am going with the Kansas City Chiefs. I think they have the most complete team.

Who is going to end up with the worst record in the league?

I am going with the Jacksonville Jaguars. It is going to be another tough year for the Jags.

How much longer do you envision Belichick leading this team?

I think there is no end in sight as both of his sons are on his coaching staff. If I had to guess I would say five seasons. If you ask me he can coach as long as he wants. He has earned that right.

Miami Dolphins, @DolphinsTalk

What went well for you last season?

Not much, lol. The Dolphins started the season 1-7 and it was a nightmare. Yes they rebounded a bit and made a run late but by opening 1-7 it never felt like they were in the thick of any playoff race last season. There were some positives overall, Jaylen Waddle had over 100 receptions and broke the rookie record for that. Jevon Holland broke out and looks like a superstar for years to come. But as a team there wasn’t much that went well last season.

What area do you need to improve on?

Offense, like all of it. Miami had the worst offensive line in NFL history last season. Outside of Waddle they had no other wide receivers that scared you. The running backs were abysmal, and one could argue not even NFL-worthy. Oh, and we haven’t even spoken about the quarterback.

On top of all of that the Dolphins had a head coach who didn’t understand offense and felt that 3 or 4 (I honestly lost count) offensive coordinators would work in a system that had, depending on the game, series, or play, a different one calling plays.

How confident are you going into this year and what do you expect your record to be?

I see Miami as a 9 to 11-win team and I am confident they added a lot of new pieces that will help immediately, especially on offense that needed to be revamped. This league is built on skill position players and speed and Miami has that in truckloads.

Who is winning MVP and the Super Bowl?

The MVP will be Justin Herbert. I think Buffalo probably wins the Super Bowl but I refuse to pick them, so I will go with the LA Chargers.

Who is going to end up with the worst record in the league?

There are about 4 teams in the mix for this and really Atlanta and Chicago are battling for the worst of the worst out of that group of 4. I will take Chicago, I just see little talent on that team, especially on offense.

Is this a 'make-or-break' year for Tua? Or can he afford to keep 2023 in his back pocket to try and prove himself?

It’s a make-or-break year for Tua, but also circumstances may play a role if he is back in 2023. Yes, he has to play well, if Tua is awful he won’t be here in 2023. If Tua is the same this year as he has been in 2021 and 2020 then there is chance he could be back next year because to move on from him you must have a better option.

If Lamar Jackson is unavailable, and there are no vets on the free agent or trade market, and if Miami is picking 18th unable to trade up to get a QB they want in the draft, yeah Tua could be back in 2023 even if he doesn’t play outstanding this year. With that said, I think Tua will be much better this year and this will be a non-story come November.

New York Jets, Tyson Rauch @TalkJetsRadio

What went well for you last season?

The young Jets roster was able to get plenty of playing time and experience as Coach Saleh and his staff implemented their systems and program. As the season progressed, the team started to find their way including rookie quarterback Zach Wilson.

What area do you need to improve on?

On offense, Zach Wilson has to continue to grow and become more consistent as a passer.  Wilson must learn to take what the defense gives him and become a more effective game manager. On defense, the front must do a much better job against the run and be able to establish a pass rush without relying on blitz packages.

How confident are you going into this year and what do you expect your record to be?

The influx of talent from both the draft and free agency has the fans excited, but that may not necessarily reflect in the win column. The Jets are most likely a 7-8 win team.

Who is winning MVP and the Super Bowl?

Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.

Who is going to end up with the worst record in the league?

Seattle Seahawks.

Did you see enough of Zach Wilson in his first year to make you think that he can be the man of the future, or is he the latest in the long line of failed Jets QBs?

Wilson has plenty of room to improve but his work ethic, dedication to his craft and overall talent give him a good chance to succeed. This is not a make-or-break year for Wilson, he just has to take the next step as a game manager, and in year 3 show what he can really bring to the football field.

Buffalo Bills, Nate from Circling The Wagons Podcast @CTWPod

What went well for you last season?

A lot went right for the Bills even with their 11-6 record. They had the #1 Defense and the #3 Offense led by future superstar QB Josh Allen.

What area do you need to improve on?

Close games. The Bills were 1-7 in games decided by a score or less in 2021. That’s most likely just bad luck, but a win or two and the Bills could’ve had the 1st round bye for the AFC.

How confident are you going into this year and what do you expect your record to be?

Confidence is at an all-time high for Bills Mafia. This is the last season before Josh Allen’s big contract kicks in. The front office has left most of the starters on offense and defense in tact, plus future HOF DE Von Miller was added.

Who is winning MVP and the Super Bowl?

Hopefully both answers involve Josh Allen and the Bills.

Who is going to end up with the worst record in the league?

Is it possible that Seattle could be the worst team in the league without Russell Wilson saving them? If not the Seahawks, potentially the Jets.

Do you feel that with the roster that you have assembled that this is a 'now or never' season for the Bills as a franchise?

It’s never a “Now or Never” season when you finally find a franchise QB, but this season and the salary cap implications going forward…the Bills were a play away from being in the AFC Championship game last year. This should be the year.
