Tottenham Hotspur may see Wolverhampton Wanderers star Adama Traore as an 'attractive option in January' as a cut-price deal could be struck at Hotspur Way, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

Spurs head coach Antonio Conte spent more than £150million on strengthening his squad during the summer transfer window, but there will be an opportunity for him to welcome further fresh faces to north London at the turn of the year.

What's the latest news involving Traore?

According to the Daily Express, Tottenham were interested in securing Traore's services ahead of last Thursday's deadline.

The report suggests the eight-cap Spain international was heavily considered by the club as Conte was keen to strengthen his attacking options, while managing director Fabio Paratici remains a huge admirer, but a move failed to come to fruition.

Spurs have been long-term suitors of Traore and had a £15million bid rejected by Wolves before he joined Barcelona for the second half of last season on loan.

There is uncertainty over where the winger's long-term future lies as his £46,000-per-week Molineux contract is set to expire next summer.

Wolves head coach Bruno Lage has revealed that talks over Traore's plans will be held ahead of the January transfer window, although he has previously turned down offers of a new deal.

What has Alex Crook said about Traore?

Crook believes that Tottenham may look to take advantage of Traore's contractual situation in the coming months.

The talkSPORT reporter feels Conte and Paratici could try to negotiate a cut-price deal for the 26-year-old when the transfer window reopens.

Crook told GIVEMESPORT: "They might see that as a more attractive option in January, when he'll only have six months left on his contract.

"He will be a bit cheaper, so I wouldn't rule it out. But I haven't heard anything on that."

Would Traore be a good signing for Spurs?

Despite being attacking-minded, Traore has not been particularly prolific over the course of his senior club career and only scored 19 goals in 263 appearances.

Although those figures will result in many questioning Tottenham's interest, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has described the Spaniard as 'undefendable' because of his electric pace and there is no doubt that his speed frightens defenders.

The fact Traore boasts plenty of Premier League experience, having enjoyed 164 outings in the competition, will be another attraction for Conte.

With Lucas Moura also being into the final 12 months of his £80,000-per-week contract in north London, the Spurs chief could draft Traore in as a potential replacement.
