Tottenham manager Antonio Conte was disappointed that the club were unable to sign one more player before last week's transfer deadline, claims journalist Dean Jones.

Spurs had a busy summer, bringing in seven new faces, but it appears Conte wanted more.

Who did Tottenham sign?

As already mentioned, Tottenham were extremely active during the transfer window that has just gone.

To strengthen at the back, in midfield and in attack, the Premier League outfit signed Fraser Forster, Clement Lenglet, Ivan Perisic, Djed Spence, Destiny Udogie, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison.

They also bought Cristian Romero after his initial loan spell at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last season, so it was undoubtedly a productive summer in that part of north London.

Whether it will be enough for Spurs to win some silverware this season, though, remains to be seen.

What has Jones said about Conte and Tottenham?

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that while Conte is satisfied with the business Tottenham have done, the Italian was hoping for one more signing.

Speaking to GMS, the transfer insider said: "I mean, he's happy with the work that was done, but those close to him definitely sense there was some disappointment they couldn't get one more over the line."

Who were Tottenham linked with towards the end of the transfer window?

There was a lot of speculation about Tottenham wanting to sign Dan James before his move from Leeds United to Fulham on deadline day.

According to the reliable Fabrizio Romano, a loan with a buy option was discussed, but nothing came to fruition in the end.

There was also some talk about Tottenham being keen on bringing Hakim Ziyech to Hotspur Way. As per Spanish outlet Relevo (via Evening Standard), the Moroccan was firmly on their radar ahead of the transfer deadline.

While Ziyech has had his struggles at Chelsea, failing to nail down a regular spot in Thomas Tuchel's starting XI, he could have been a great addition to Spurs' squad.

On his day, he is a very dangerous player with that left foot of his. The former Ajax playmaker has ranked in the 95th percentile for total shots, the 84th for expected assists, the 85th for shot-creating actions and the 84th for progressive passes among attacking midfielders and wingers over the last year (via FBref).

With it being so late in the window and Tottenham and Chelsea being fierce rivals, though, that transfer always looked unlikely.
