The Champions League is back and it can't come a moment too soon.

Europe's premier club competition roars back into life tonight as the first of the group stage matches get underway.

32 of the best teams that the continent can offer will battle it out in the hope of usurping 2021/22 champions Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants beat Liverpool in the Paris final in May by just the solitary Vinicius Junior goal as they added to their unprecedented tally of titles.

This season already promises to be a special one, with two Scottish sides in Rangers and Celtic both booking their spot in the group stage.

Manchester City meanwhile, will be desperate to break their European duck and, with a blistering Erling Haaland leading the line, that looks as though it could be a very real possibility.

However, PSG will have a similar target in mind and, with a certain Lionel Messi finally finding his stride in Parisian blue, this could be the season that they finally end the curse.
