Gabriel Jesus has been one of the Premier League's form players in 2022/23 thus far.

The Brazilian striker joined Arsenal from Manchester City in a £45 million deal over the summer and has hit the ground running in north London.

Going into last Sunday's match away at Manchester United, Jesus boasted a record of three goals and three assists from five league appearances.

Unfortunately for Arsenal, he was unable to add to that tally at Old Trafford and was also unable to prevent his new team from losing 3-1 to their fierce rivals.

But while it wasn't exactly a day to cherish for Jesus, the all-action forward still dropped a top-quality performance overall and was unlucky to be on the losing side.

The 25-year-old put United's defenders to the sword on numerous occasions, although it appears one of them managed to get under his skin.

Why do we say that? Well, footage has emerged on social media in which you can clearly see Jesus kicking out at Lisandro Martinez after losing the ball.

The United centre-back lightly bumped into his opponent inside the penalty area and that prompted the Arsenal man to lash out.

To be fair to Martinez, he didn't react to the swipe or feign injury, which is probably the main reason why VAR didn't intervene and have the referee check the monitor for a possible red card offence.

Take a look at footage of the incident...

Martinez knew exactly what he was doing and certainly wasn't completely innocent in the matter, but Jesus was lucky to escape without punishment, as he quite clearly kicked out - which is, of course, an act worthy of a sending off.

But thankfully for Arsenal, their main man will not be suspended for their home match against Everton on Sunday, where they will hope to return to winning ways.

The Gunners will go into the game top of the Premier League table after claiming five victories on the spin prior to their Old Trafford humbling.

After their meeting with the Toffees, Arsenal travel to Brentford in the final gameweek before the first international break of the 2022/23 season.

Will Arteta's side go into the domestic sabbatical top of the pile in the Premier League? You wouldn't bet against it, although their upcoming fixtures are certainly not easy - on paper at least.
