Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua, the heavyweight fight we’ve wanted to see for what feels like an eternity, with the chances of it happening dwindling away only to reappear smoking hot.

It looked like they were going to take to the ring for an undisputed heavyweight bout in 2021 until Deontay Wilder stopped those chances by triggering his trilogy with Fury and refusing to step aside.

After Fury beat Wilder, AJ lost his belts and The Gypsy King then had to turn attentions elsewhere as his fellow Brit looked to trigger his rematch clause.

Now, AJ’s back-to-back losses against Oleksandr Usyk have left him without a claim for a big shot at Fury. However, the Ukrainian isn’t going to take Fury on till next year for an undisputed heavyweight division title fight, leaving him wanting an opponent in December when he wants to return to the ring.

The Gypsy King saw it only fitting to put his titles on the line against AJ, giving the British public what they want, a mega fight on the shores between the two best heavyweights the country has to offer.

After posting a video calling him out for the fight, it was a waiting game to see how AJ responded, and like all of us, The Gypsy King was getting impatient and sent another tweet to his new target.

Fury added: “You @anthonyjoshua what you saying big G let’s give the fanz what they want as Usyk is b******g??? I got the date and venue who will rule Britannia.”

Finally, AJ responded and it is on! He quoted Fury’s tweet, adding: “Yea calm. I don’t do the online discussions just for clout, so if you really about it shout @258mgt. I’ll be ready in December. Khalas.”

Unless there’s a breakdown in contract talks, this fight is finally going to happen and will take place this year.

After AJ’s defeat, Fury made no secrets of the fact he wanted to restore the belts and pride back to Britain after AJ was unable to do so, he clearly wants to entertain and give his home fans what they want.

Now we all play the waiting game, seeing how long it will take for an official announcement, but that will surely be imminent!

Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn will be incredibly busy this morning, their phones won’t have stopped as they look to set up the biggest fight British boxing has to offer.
