Tottenham manager Antonio Conte reckons there's been a "mentality switch" at the club, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Spurs have made their joint-best ever start to a Premier League campaign, which has left them just one point behind bitter rivals Arsenal at the top of the standings after six matches.

How have Tottenham started the season?

Despite not hitting top gear in any of their league fixtures, Tottenham have dropped just four points and are in good shape ahead of their trip to Manchester City this weekend.

Perhaps Spurs' best performance of the season came on the opening day, when they came from behind to comfortably beat Southampton.

But just eight days later, Conte's side turned in their worst display and were fortunate for Harry Kane's last-gasp header that rescued a point at Chelsea.

Victories over Wolves and Nottingham Forest were to follow, with Tottenham once again far from their best, before they shared the points against West Ham in their final game of August.

Ironically, Spurs improved dramatically against Fulham last weekend, but poor finishing meant Aleksander Mitrovic's stunner caused a late scare, although the north Londoners did hold on.

With Conte's side now able to win when playing badly and also pick up points from losing positions, Jones reckons the Italian believes there's been a change of mentality at the club under his guidance.

What did Jones say about Conte?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "He's got a good squad and he does feel there's been a mentality switch.

"So, they have certainly got enough in their ranks that he feels they can get to that pause in the season and then go again."

What's next for Tottenham?

Before Spurs travel to Manchester City on Saturday, they get their Champions League campaign up and running against Marseille tonight in their first game in the competition since March 2020.

Once the north Londoners get through that game, it's two testing trips to the Etihad Stadium and Sporting CP in the space of four days before they round off a busy September by hosting rock bottom Leicester in their final game before the international break.

But they return from the break by travelling to Arsenal in the first of nine games in just 28 days in October, three of which come in the Champions League and six in the Premier League.
