All the talk is about Tyson Fury potentially having a big money bout with fellow Brit Anthony Joshua, pending an agreement, of course.

The rivalry between the two heavyweights has grown over the last three years now, but recently it’s started to heat up again.

The Gypsy King was supposedly set for battle with AJ in August last year, but then an arbitration judge put a stop to that by making Fury face off with Deontay Wilder for a third and final time.

However, Fury recently called out Joshua for a WBO heavyweight championship clash following AJ’s unanimous decision loss in his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk on August 20, 2022.

This comes after Usyk has said he has no plans of fighting again this year, which means that Fury is without an opponent so he turned to the former champion in Joshua instead.

Fury, being the character that he is, dubbed it a “Battle of Britain”, Joshua later responded by directing him to his management team and stating he’d be ready by December.

After they’ve been trash talking each for a number of years now, we could finally see them take each other on in the future.

Now with all that being said, we thought we’d take a look back on comments made by Fury in the past towards his next potential opponent.

Tyson Fury slammed Anthony Joshuas record in interview

The Gypsy King’s comments as a guest on The Overlap, Gary Neville’s show on Sky Sports, have resurfaced recently where he criticised the 32-year-old for fighting boxers outside of their prime.

Whilst discussing the subject with the former Manchester United full-back, he said: “I do think that the best boxers do fight each other eventually, but it’s not gonna when everyone calls for it.

“It only happens when say one boxer’s on the slide and one’s in his prime. Then you get them wanting to fight each other. But you very rarely get two prime fighters fight each other. Because one of them is always a bit wary that they’re gonna lose.

“Anthony Joshua’s fought not one heavyweight in his prime. He fought Wladimir Klitschko at 42 years old, Kubrat Pulev 40-odd, Alexander Povetkin 40-odd.

“They’re all former good men, back in the early 2000s, late 2000s, but not in 2020-odd. They were good men 10 years ago.”

Fury does make a valid point when speaking about some of Joshua’s previous opponents, but it could be said that the same applies to The Gypsy King because he also fought Klitschko when the Ukrainian was nearly 40.

Joshua definitely has fought numerous top tier fighters past their prime, although he recently fought Andy Ruiz Jr. twice in 2019.

What do you make of the comments said by Fury towards AJ and do you think the comments could be brought up in the build up to the fight should an agreement be reached?
