Brighton & Hove Albion are ‘confident’ that they will be able to keep forward Leandro Trossard at the Amex for a while yet, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Seagulls have made an impressive start to the Premier League season, leading to speculation that Europe’s elite could soon move for their main man.

What is the latest news from Brighton?

Potter has led his side to four wins from their first six Premier League outings, losing just once so far this season. It means they sit inside the top four and are showing no signs of slowing down.

Last weekend saw them thrash Leicester City 5-2 on the south coast, with Trossard, Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister all finding the target.

Potter has previously been linked with an exit from the club, with England and Tottenham Hotspur previously speculated as his next destination.

But the 47-year-old rejected the north Londoners when they came calling last summer, with the prospect of working alongside Daniel Levy reportedly turning the former Swansea City boss off the possibility.

However, Chelsea are now understood to be pushing to land the highly-rated boss after the shock dismissal of Thomas Tuchel on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Trossard’s contract is set to expire next summmer although there is an option to extend his deal by an extra year that either party can activate.

Manchester United and Newcastle United are both understood to have been interested in the 27-year-old in recent months.

What has Jones said on the situation?

Jones understands that Brighton are confident they will be able to hold onto Trossard moving forward.

The journalist says that it will be a big decision for the attacker when he decides to leave, with plenty of risk involved in his next moves.

When asked about his futures, Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “It's a dangerous step to take and you don't want to leave Brighton and then actually see your career come to a bit of a standstill or, even worse, decline. That is what would happen if you were to make the wrong move from Brighton. So he will have a big decision to make at some point. But, for Brighton, they're confident that he is staying for the time being.”

Is Trossard ready for a step up?

The Belgian has slowly grown into an impressive and consistent figure in the top flight.

Trossard has made 108 Premier League appearances since joining Brighton, contributing to 33 goals in that time, so it is easy to see why he has also attracted admiring glances.

However, if Potter departs, it will be interesting to see how that affects Brighton's best players.
