If we learnt anything over the course of this summer, it's that it pays to be Kylian Mbappe.

The French superstar, who seemed on the brink of a mega-money move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, decided to stick around in Paris after PSG tabled a quite monstrous offer.

With the move to Madrid all but done bar the shouting, PSG knew their offer was going to have to be unlike anything else that has ever been offered in the world of football.

It was a remarkable u-turn - one that left the bigwigs at the Bernabeu absolutely fuming with rumour that they may even take legal action against the Ligue 1 champions.

The result has been that everyone in the world of football, from fans to the media alike, have been keeping a very close eye on Mbappe and the way in which he interacts with his superstar teammates.

Footage of the striker simply giving up on a counter attack when he was not passed the ball made for an awful look and did not go down well among fans.

Now, thanks to a report in the New York Times via Marca, we are able to get a better understanding of the astronomical numbers involved in that deal.

Per the report, the Times revealed that, across the three-year deal, Mbappe will earn a staggering £215 million, or £72 million per annum.

For those of you attempting further mathematical jujitsu in your head, we'll make it easy for you - that equates to £1.3 million PER WEEK.

Who knew numbers could go that high?

Then, just when you think the man can't possibly have found a way to earn himself further cash, the above mentioned report casually drops the fact that PSG shelled out £107 million as a renewal bonus.

And all of this for a lad who is just 23 years old.

Of course there is no questioning that Mbappe is one of the most talented footballers on the planet but his worth goes beyond what he can do on the pitch.

He is a globally recognised face now making him one of the most marketable assets in the football world.

Lionel Messi GOAT range

You can be sure the number gurus at PSG would have done their feasibility studies before the contract was tabled but, even so, it feels like an almighty sum of money for just one man.

Will earning more money than he could ever know what to do with make Mbappe a better footballer, or will it be a hinderence?

Only time will tell.
