Chelsea would not have any problems convincing Mauricio Pochettino to take over as their new boss as the Argentinian 'would be interested' in moving into the Stamford Bridge dugout, according to journalist Paul Brown.

The west Londoners sacked Thomas Tuchel on Wednesday morning, leading to a search for his successor ahead of travelling to Fulham on Saturday.

What's the latest news involving Tuchel and Pochettino?

Having been in the Chelsea hot seat since his appointment in January 2021, Tuchel's reign came to an end earlier on Wednesday.

The German's dismissal came less than 24 hours after he lambasted his squad for showing no hunger or determination in their 1-0 Champions League defeat at Dinamo Zagreb.

It means Todd Boehly, who led a £4.25billion takeover of Chelsea in May, is on the lookout for a new manager for the first time since collecting the keys to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are reportedly eyeing discussions with Pochettino after he has been considered as a potential replacement for Tuchel by club chiefs.

Pochettino has been out of work since he was sacked by reigning Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in July.

What has Paul Brown said about Pochettino?

Brown believes Pochettino would be interested in returning to management by clinching the Chelsea job vacated by Tuchel.

However, the journalist has concerns over whether the 50-year-old would be a success at Stamford Bridge.

Brown told GIVEMESPORT: "I'm sure it's a job that Pochettino would be interested in.

"Does he know any of those players particularly well? I can't think of relationships there, really, with many of them that he would have had before and would make it easy for him to fit in.

"Personally, I think Pochettino is someone who needs a young, hungry group that he can mould.

"I don't think he does particularly well with superstar teams full of egos or highly-paid players who've won lots of stuff in the game because, ultimately, he wants you to run, he wants you to work hard and he wants you to do exactly as you're told."

Would Pochettino be a good appointment for Chelsea?

Pochettino boasts Premier League experience, having bossed Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur, so that will be attractive for Boehly.

He was a major success with Chelsea's London rivals Spurs as he led them to the Champions League final and won 160 of his 293 matches at the helm.

Having spent more than £250million on bolstering the squad during the summer transfer window, Boehly will be eager to challenge for silverware and the Premier League title.

Pochettino clinched three trophies during his time at PSG, including the Ligue 1 crown, so he would head to Stamford Bridge with a winning mentality if he were to be handed the job.
