Rangers' lack of signings could cause "real concern" for Giovanni van Bronckhorst, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Ibrox club have made a worrying start to the season on the domestic and European front and Jones reckons they might be a couple of players short.

What's the latest news involving Rangers?

Despite the summer window proving a frustrating one for Rangers, they were still able to bring in Ridvan Yilmaz, John Souttar, Ben Davies, Malik Tillman, Tom Lawrence, Rabbi Matondo and Antonio Colak.

But Rangers are struggling on the pitch and followed up their 4-0 hammering at Old Firm rivals Celtic last Saturday with another defeat by the same scoreline in their Champions League opener against Ajax.

Van Bronckhorst's side were 3-0 down inside 33 minutes against the Eredivisie side, an almost identical situation they found themselves in at Parkhead, and they were once again unable to mount a second half fightback.

Three of Rangers' new faces were involved in Amsterdam, but none of them ended the game on the pitch at Celtic, which suggests that the Dutchman isn't completely satisfied with his squad.

What did Jones say about Rangers?

Jones reckons that Rangers might be lacking squad depth, which could prove difficult to deal with ahead of the hectic schedule in October and November before the World Cup.

He told GIVEMESPORT: "I think the lack of additions is going to now cause real concern and they'll be wondering how they balance out, not only the schedule they've got coming up, but what their strongest team is capable of."

When are Rangers next in action?

It's been week to forget for the Glasgow giants, although they still have a third important game to come this weekend.

Despite two difficult away trips to Celtic and Ajax, Rangers have another when they travel to Aberdeen on Saturday.

A tough away game is the last thing the Gers need after consecutive 4-0 defeats, but it's crucial they dust themselves down, go again and ensure the five points they trail Celtic by in the race for the title doesn't get any bigger.

You have to go back to August 2021 for the last time Rangers lost three games on the bounce, though, so recent history would suggest there's every chance the Ibrox club might bounce back with a positive result.
