Chelsea supporters will be excited if prospective new manager Graham Potter brings recruitment analyst Kyle Macauley to Stamford Bridge with him, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Chairman Todd Boehly made the decision to sack Thomas Tuchel on Wednesday morning and the Brighton & Hove Albion boss is the frontrunner for the position.

What is the latest news on Potter?

The Blues confirmed that they had parted company with Tuchel this week, announcing in a statement that the new owners, led by Boehly, were looking to move in a new direction.

It now appears that Potter is primed to replace the German, with it understood that Brighton granted the Blues permission to speak to their manager hours after the announcement.

Matt Law of the Telegraph has since reported that the former Swansea City boss has verbally agreed to take the role, leaving just the formal process to complete.

It is reported that Chelsea have looked at multiple options, including Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim and Mauricio Pochettino, with the club eager to run a thorough process.

What has Jones said on their pursuit?

Jones says that Potter will be given the chance to surround himself with his own coaching team if his appointment at Stamford Bridge is confirmed.

The journalist adds that Tuchel’s staff left with the former Paris Saint-Germain boss and that one Brighton figure, in particular, will likely excite Chelsea fans if he joins.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “Obviously, Tuchel’s own coaches left with him. So it's natural that Potter is going to get the chance to surround himself with some people that he trusts implicitly to help him with this vision at Chelsea. If he's going to be a long-term boss, then he needs to have people alongside him that can help carry out what he needs. Macauley is obviously the one that people are going to be excited about and I think that that's fair given his expertise in recruitment.”

Who is Macauley?

The recruitment analyst has worked with Potter since his time with Ostersund and, according to The Athletic, was previously operating alongside the head of recruitment and Dan Ashworth at the Amex.

According to football.london, Boehly is on the lookout for somebody to take a lead on transfers at Stamford Bridge and it is possible Macauley could fill that gap.

The report states he is responsible for recent recruits including Moises Caicedo and Marc Cucurella, who moved to Chelsea this summer.
