UFC fighter Kevin Holland has questioned the media antics of UFC 279 headliner Khamzat Chimaev.

For the longest time now Khamzat Chimaev has been viewed as the next big thing in the world of mixed martial arts, and rightly so. ‘Borz’ is 5-0 since entering the Ultimate Fighting Championship and based on everything we’ve seen, he has the potential to become one of the biggest stars the company has had in recent memory.

His last outing, against Gilbert Burns, served as a real wake-up call regarding his durability and just how many tools he has at his disposal.

The next time we’ll see him compete will be in just over 48 hours when he locks horns with Nate Diaz, and while it may be a one-sided affair on paper, we’ve all come to learn that ruling the Stockton king out can so often be a mistake.

Another man who will be competing on the card in Las Vegas is Kevin Holland, another fighter who has a habit of making waves in the media.

During his pre-fight media scrum, Holland was asked about Chimaev in relation to a few run-ins the two men have had in the past.

“I feel like he likes the f***ing media. He only does this extra wannabe street s*** when the media is around. Other than that, he doesn’t do it. So, yeah. When you guys aren’t around he wants to do fist bumps and be your best friend. When you guys are around then all of a sudden he’s like ‘argh, I’ll rip your f***ing head off’. He ain’t ripping s*** off, dog. Let’s be real. You want a pay check just like the rest of these guys around here.”

Prior to these remarks, Holland made it clear that he doesn’t have a problem with any fighters on the roster - but that he also isn’t afraid to speak his mind.

“I’ve never had an issue, nobody. Now, I’m gonna tell you how I feel about anybody, you know what I mean? Dude on the left is a bitch, dude on the right is a bitch and dude in the middle, he’s definitely a bitch, you know what I mean?”

The step up

After stringing together back-to-back wins over Alex Oliveira and Tim Means, this weekend will see Kevin Holland take another step up in competition when he collides with Daniel Rodriguez.

If he wins a third straight, there’s no denying his momentum will continue to snowball.
