Chelsea manager Graham Potter would ‘love to bring’ attacking midfielder Leandro Trossard to the club with him, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

Potter has arrived from Brighton and Hove Albion after Thomas Tuchel was surprisingly sacked following a slow start to the season and could already have one eye on the January transfer window.

What has Phillips said about Trossard?

Trossard was linked with the likes of Manchester United and Newcastle over the summer following an impressive three-year spell with Brighton.

And Phillips previously informed GiveMeSport that the Belgium international was a player already on Chelsea’s radar, raising the possibility of him following in Potter’s footsteps.

Since arriving at the Amex Stadium via an £18 million switch from Genk, Trossard has has put up tallies of eight, 10 and 11 goal contributions in his three full campaigns.

The 27-year-old appears to have elevated his game to new heights this season, though and has already registered two goals and two assists in six Premier League games for the high-flying Seagulls.

Whether Potter makes a move for Trossard in the winter remains to be seen, but it seems as though it’s a move that could well be on the cards.

What has Phillips said about Trossard?

Potter did recently confirm that Trossard has more than a year remaining on his contract contrary to popular belief, which could make any move difficult to complete in the winter window.

However, Phillips believes that the 47-year-old tactician would be keen to be reunited with the Creative talent in west London.

He told GiveMeSport: “Trossard, I think, is a player that Potter would love to bring in with him straight away, but obviously, the transfer windows closed, and he’ll have to wait until January.”

Where would Trossard fit in?

Trossard has often lined up either on the left-wing or through the middle throughout his senior career and is capable of playing a very attacking or slightly deeper role.

His versatility would see him compete with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Mason Mount and perhaps even Kai Havertz for a role in the Chelsea starting lineup should he make the switch.

But Trossard’s understanding of Potter’s playing style and system would perhaps make him an extremely attractive option to his former boss.

Potter will have to do without Trossard for at least four months while he tries to make his make at Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea could return to Brighton for another one of their prized assets before too long.
