What a moment for the youngster.

Arsenal have very high hopes for Marquinhos.

When he completed his move to the club in June, Technical director Edu told the club's official website: “We’re delighted to have completed the transfer with Sao Paulo, as Marquinhos was a player we had been watching for a while.

"At 19, he is still very young, so he is a player for the future. We look forward to Marquinhos now joining us for pre-season, making his new home, and continuing to grow and develop with us.”

While Mikel Arteta spoke of his delight about Marquinhos' development in August.

“Very happy with him,” Arteta said of Marquinhos, per football.london. “He’s adapted really well. He’s a really likeable figure even if his language is not great yet.

"We’re gonna keep him here for another few months and make sure he establishes himself and then see what’s best for his development.”

We could well be seeing more of him after his debut strike against Zurich.

Zurich fought back and restored parity just before the half-time break.

Nketiah felled Fridan Aliti in the box and Mirlind Kryeziu made no mistake from 12 yards.

There were no further goals as the scoreline was level at the break.
