Canelo Alvarez, 32, can be seen soaked with sweat as he sends powerful message to rival Gennady Golovkin in preparation for imminent bout.

One of the most eagerly anticipated fights in recent history is scheduled for the 17th September 2022 at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas as Canelo Alvarez takes on Gennady Golovkin for their third and final fight.

Alvarez will be hoping to secure his 40th KO in 62 fights, while his less-experienced opponent is looking for his 38th KO in only 44 fights.

Golovkin goes in to the fight with a 2 inch height advantage at 5’10, but it is Alvarez with the reach advantage at 70 1/2Inches.

Canelo Alvarez to move down a weight class

The fight will see Canelo moving down in weight classes to reach the 12-stone threshold for the super-middleweight division in order to defend his undisputed crown.

This is after losing his most recent fight in May at the light-heavyweight devision to current champion Dmitry Bivol, 31. The threshold for this weightless stands at 12st, 7lbs.

Such a drastic cut has forced the Mexican superstar to go to extraordinary lengths in order to make weight.

Canelo Alvarez training brutally hard

However, in a Twitter video posted by ESPN Ringside (@espnringside) captioned ‘@canelo was pouring sweat #caneloggg’, the Mexican can be seen rinsing out his sweat-suit with a soaking towel over his shoulders.

It appears the boxing Goliath is having no issues cutting the pounds and fans are in absolute disarray.

The tweet from ESPN Ringside provoked a huge response on the platform with one fan commenting: ‘The length boxers go through to make weight is insane’.

Another added: ‘’Gotta make weight’.

Those with a keen eye will recognise the specially crafted kit Canelo is brandishing in clip. The WBC sweatsuit is a particular favourite among the boxing elite and is an essential piece of equipment for anyone trying to cut weight.

Canelo’s opponent Golovkin, 40, is fighting outright of his preferred middleweight division for the first time in his career.

Golovkin vs Canelo trilogy fight

Gennady Golovkin takes on Canelo Alvarez in a trilogy fight on Saturday

The Kazakhstani fighter will have to gain 6lbs for the fight later this month. Canelo Vs Golovkin 1 saw the fighters compete in the 11st 6lbs middleweight devision.

The 2017 fight ended in a draw but it would only take a year for Canelo to earn his first victory over his ageing opponent.

In an interview with Yahoo Sports, Golovkin remarked: "Indeed, it's a new weight division for me, and there are certain nuances, and we are making appropriate adjustments.

"My focus is on heavy training and my experience. I think the difference would be in making this weight, so I feel very comfortable making 160.

"From time to time, I will have to probably wear this weight burning suit a couple of times, while, for 168, there is a chance that I will not need it.”

It’s safe to say Golovkin sounds confident.
