Thomas Tuchel has revealed he is devastated to have left Chelsea in an emotional statement.The German manager was sacked by the Blues earlier this week after an underwhelming start to the season.Tuchel's final game came on Tuesday, where Chelsea fell to a shock defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in their opening Champions League game of the season.He has now broken his silence on Twitter and he's spoken from the heart.

He wrote: "This is one of the most difficult statements I have ever had to write - and it is one which I hoped I would not need to do for many years. I am devastated that my time at Chelsea has come to an end.

"This is a club where I felt at home, both professionally and personally. Thank you so much to all the staff, the players and the supporters for making me feel very welcome from the start.

"The pride and joy I felt at helping the team to win the Champions League and the Club World Cup will stay with me forever. I am honoured to have been a part of this club’s history and the memories of the last 19 months will always have a special place in my heart."

Tuchel was appointed manager of Chelsea in January 2021.

He won 60 of his 100 matches in charge of the club.

He won the Champions League five months after arriving and guided Chelsea to successes in the Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

Tuchel also led Chelsea to two FA Cup finals and a Carabao Cup final.

Graham Potter has since taken Tuchel's place as Chelsea manager. The west London outfit moved quickly for Potter and announced his arrival on Thursday.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly told the club's website after Potter's appointment: ‘We are thrilled to bring Graham to Chelsea. He is a proven coach and an innovator in the Premier League who fits our vision for the Club. Not only is he extremely talented on the pitch, he has skills and capabilities that extend beyond the pitch which will make Chelsea a more successful Club.

"He has had a major impact at his previous Clubs and we look forward to his positive impact at Chelsea. We look forward to supporting him, his coaching team and the squad in realising their full potential in the coming months and years."

Potter will take charge of his first Chelsea game on Wednesday when they welcome RB Salzburg to Stamford Bridge for their Champions League clash.
