West Ham have no concerns about Declan Rice right now, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The midfielder has been a long-term target for London rivals Chelsea for quite some time, but Jones says he has his head down at the London Stadium and is concentrating on the task at hand.

What is the latest news involving Rice?

The reliable Fabrizio Romano has been talking about Chelsea's interest in Rice, stating that a move to Stamford Bridge during the summer transfer window was practically impossible.

"[Thomas] Tuchel never turned down the chance of signing Declan Rice, Rice was simply untouchable for West Ham and so far there is no update," the Italian journalist wrote in his recent CaughtOffside column.

Last year, The Telegraph reported that Tuchel had revived Chelsea's interest in Rice, with his predecessor Frank Lampard previously making him a top target for the west London outfit.

With new manager Graham Potter now at the helm, though, it remains to be seen if the 23-year-old will remain on the Blues' list.

What has Jones said about Rice's West Ham future?

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that West Ham are not worried about Rice right now.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: "For now, I mean, West Ham are very confident about the place that Rice is in. He's knuckling down and he trusts the process. He knows that any move for him will come along at the moment in which he actually needs it."

Why did Tuchel want Rice?

Chelsea have problems in midfield and Rice is one of the best players in that area of the pitch in the country.

The Blues could lose both N'Golo Kante and Jorginho on free transfers at the end of the season, while the former is having a hard time staying fit, so the German wanting Rice was not a shock.

As per WhoScored, the £60,000-a-week England international has averaged three tackles per league game this term, the highest number in David Moyes' squad, so it is easy to see the kind of defensive quality he brings to his side.

He is also making 1.8 interceptions a match, an average only Vladimir Coufal (2.2) can better, further showing his ability to stop attacks.

From West Ham's perspective, hopefully they can keep Rice at the London Stadium for at least a couple more years. There are few defensive midfielders like the Hammers captain right now; it is probably going to be impossible to replace him.
