Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced the signing of Diego Costa on a one-year deal.

The Spaniard has been available on a free transfer since leaving Atlético Mineiro in January.

The move to Wolves has been in the pipeline for some time but the deal was finally confirmed on Monday afternoon.

And Wolves revealed the completion of the deal with a truly brilliant announcement video.

Costa is seen holding a chained pack of wolves in the video.

They don't look too friendly - with one of them baring its teeth at the camera.

The clip then ends with the camera focusing on Costa, with the caption 'Diego is a wolf'.

Costa isn't scared of much. He's one of the most fearsome players in world football.

But even he had to admit he was terrified when filming the video.

Diego Costa reveals he was terrified filming Wolves' announcement video

“I was scared to death. Holding that chain I kept thinking, ‘What if this wolf thinks about jumping on top of me?’ and then the three of them did," Costa said, per Goal.

“Because the lady training them kept calling them, asked them to move around a little and the dog, the wolves didn’t do a single thing. And I thought, ‘If they’re not doing anything with the trainer, if they come’…when they came and smelled my foot, I knew I was done for."

When will Costa make his debut?

Wolves are lacking firepower up front. They've scored just three goals in their opening six games to start the Premier League season.

Costa is not match-fit, which is understandable given he has not played a competitive game in 2022.

But, given Wolves' problems in front of goal, he could make his debut sooner rather than later.

Costa could well make his first outing for Wolves when they take on Manchester City in their Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon.

If that game comes too soon for him, he could make his debut in the first game after the international break, which is against West Ham on October 1.
