Chelsea became the first Premier League side to swing the managerial axe this season as they sent Thomas Tuchel out the Stamford Bridge exit door.

The German boss, who had led the Blues to Champions League glory in 2021, was shown no mercy by the new owners after a string of underwhelming results.

They then moved swiftly to snatch away former Brighton boss Graham Potter and install him as an exciting replacement.

Is Graham Potter a gamble?

For some, Potter represents somewhat of a gamble but the potential the new partnership holds is genuinely endless.

So where does Potter rank among the best managers in the world right now? Well, according to fan-voting site Ranker, he doesn't even make the top ten.

The 20 best managers in the world according to fans

20. Maurizio Sarri
19. Manuel Pelligrini
18. Claudio Ranieri
17. Thomas Frank
16. Steven Gerrard
15. Stefano Pioli

Thomas Frank and Steven Gerrard punctuate a strong Italian contingent to kick off the top 20. Gerrard, in particular, who has endured a bit of tumultuous time at Aston Villa, might consider himself lucky to be as high as 16th.

14. Graham Potter
13. Patrick Vieira
12. Xavi
11. Gian Piero Gasperini
10. Mikel Arteta

Should Potter live up to his potential at Chelsea, then you can only imagine that his rising stock will see him move further up this list.

The same, however, can be said for Vieira, Xavi and Arteta, who all look set fair to enjoy very successful careers in management.

9. Julian Nagelsmann
8. Massimiliano Allegri
7. Jose Mourinho
6. Erik ten Hag

5. Antonio Conte

The Italian boss has quickly turned Tottenham into a genuine force that, should all go according to plan, looks capable of finally ending that painful trophy drought.

Having won titles in both Italy and England, Conte is more than deserving of his top five finish.

4. Diego Simeone

The charismatic Argentinean might not be everyone's cup of tea, but the amount of times he has left Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona with bloodied noses speaks for itself.

It might not always be pretty, but the man knows what it takes to win football games.

3. Carlo Ancelotti

The Don.

Ancelotti's glittering list of achievements is as long as the longest of arms comfortably making him one of the most successful managers in history.

2. Pep Guardiola

The Spanish maestro is the brains behind some of the most superb teams in history.

His unstoppable Barcelona side will always be one of the greatest of all time while his Manchester City side has spent the last few years making England their playground.

While his Liverpool side have got off to a miserable start this season, what Klopp has done at Anfield has been nothing short of miraculous.

He took a club mired in mediocrity and drowning under the weight of history and turned them into genuine world beaters.

His 2021/22 were just a single point and a single goal away from garlanding themselves in immortality.
