Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr are gearing up for a revival of the famous boxing rivalry from the 90s where their fathers went toe-to-toe in a brutal rivalry.

Chris Eubank Sr got the better of Nigel Benn in their opening fight thanks to a tactical knockout in the ninth round, with their rematch much closer.

A split draw was the outcome, meaning Benn was unable to get the better of his fierce rival in the ring, something his son is desperate to do.

Eubank to pull out?

Eubank Sr is an exuberant character to say the least, and it was confirmed that he will be returning to our screens in his son’s corner, surely we’ll get some form of entertainment from him!

He’s been on Celebrity Gogglebox with his son, providing plenty of golden moments such as the iconic “would you like a sweetie? These are Smarties, indeed... Absolutely stupendous confectionary!”

What Eubank Sr said

Chris Eubank Sr stated: “His life cannot be put in danger… I’ve already lost one son. I can’t lose another.”

He continued: “If they’re not going to listen to me, then they’ll have to listen to my King’s Counsel. That fight does not happen.

“If he doesn’t take the advice then I have to put my foot down… Have you ever heard of Russian Roulette> When you spin that barrel, that’s what he’s doing and that I can’t let him.

“I’ve given him my direction. If he doesn’t want to follow it he will be dragged along. But he will do what is right for him… He is coming down 1oz below 160lbs which cannot happen on my watch.

“This modern day ‘gladiating,’ this is not a play thing for the audience. We have to be strict otherwise lives are put in danger and my son’s life cannot be put in danger.

“I’ve already lost one. It can’t happen again… If you have a child and someone’s trying to actually take that child away from you, and do something wrong to that child, as a dad you wouldn’t let them. That’s all I’m doing.”

Sebastian Eubank

Sebastian Eubank was Chris Eubank Sr’s son and brother to Jr who tragically passed away days before his 30th birthday, just a month after having a child with his wife, Salma Abdelati, last year.

He had a ‘pre-existing heart condition’ which was unknown at the time of his death as he suffered a massive heart attack whilst in the Dubai sea, watching the sunset.

The passing was tragic, so it’s no surprise to see Eubank Sr being so protective over his son, it’s hard to even imagine what the family will have gone through last year.

Conor Benn looks shredded

Conor Benn shared an image from the gym of him looking in incredible shape ahead of the fight next month, captioning it: “Just sparred 10 rounds… While someone’s having DADDY ISSUES…”

He clearly isn’t standing for Eubank Sr’s claims, which could well just be mind games given he’s going to be around for the fight.

Only time will tell if it is mind games or if Eubank Jr is genuinely being forced to pull out for his own safety by his father.
