Football Manager 2023 has been officially announced and is releasing on November 8th.

There have been some huge new features announced for the upcoming game, that looks sure to set it apart from previous iterations of Football Manager.

The game is releasing on PlayStation 5, for a start, while there are also new competitions within the game, including the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Europa Conference League.

We will also get a look at new features later this month but at this point, there are already more than enough selling points for FM23.

And it has now been confirmed that Sports Interactive, the game’s developers, have also licenced the women’s Champions League, suggesting that we are closer than ever to having the option of using women’s teams in the game.

UEFA posted a statement on their own website, confirming that they have struck a licencing agreement with Football Manager.

That is a hugely exciting, and shocking, piece of news because it has long been a pipe dream to have such a major competition replicated completely authentically.

We know that women’s football is coming to Football Manager in the future after Sports Interactive confirmed as much in a lengthy blog post written by their boss, Miles Jacobson.

UEFA has now confirmed that the women’s competition has also been licenced.

They wrote in their official statement: “Although it will not feature in Football Manager™ 2023, the flagship women’s football club competition, the UEFA Women’s Champions League, is also included in the licensing agreement and will debut in a future version of the game.

“Additionally, Football Manager™ 2023 will be unveiling new game features in the coming weeks across the Football Manager social media channels, the Football Manager website and FMFC, the Football Manager members’ hub.”

This will be amazing news for fans of women’s football and it comes off the back of the England Women team’s triumph this summer, when they managed to win the European Championships by beating Germany in the final.

We can’t wait to see the Women’s Champions League replicated in the game!
