Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Shelby Harris had the ultimate response to beating Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos.
Week 1 of the NFL season came to a dramatic end last night, as the Seattle Seahawks defeated the Denver Broncos as kicker Brandon McManus missed a 64-yard field goal in the final 20 seconds of the game.
However, the game itself and all the play surrounding it kind of paled in significance to what was the big story of the day, that being the return of Russell Wilson to Lumen Field after the blockbuster trade that sent him to the Rocky Mountains over the summer.
Wilson had enjoyed a lot of good times in Seattle, throwing for 37,059 yards and 292 touchdowns to just 87 interceptions and a passer rating of 101.8 in the regular season, using that to propel them to 103 regular season wins, two trips to the Super Bowl and one Super Bowl victory back in 2013.
However the return home wasn’t exactly what he would have hoped for both on and off the field. Before the game had even started, Wilson was subjected to a torrent of abuse from fans, being booed as he came out of the tunnel for pregame warmups.

And that mockery continued after the game, only this time it came from Seahawks defensive lineman Shelby Harris.
Seahawks’ Shelby gives Russell a tough ride
Speaking after the game, Harris, who along with Noah Fant and Drew Lock went the other way in the trade this summer, along with two first-round picks, two second-round picks and a fifth-round pick, decided to mock Wilson with a phrase that has become synonymous with the quarterback since he arrived in Denver.

Wilson actually played pretty well during the game, going 29/42 for 340 yards and a touchdown, but they just couldn’t get the ball in the endzone often enough despite pounding at the door multiple times.
Shelby’s comments of course were mocking the ‘Broncos Country, Let’s Ride’ video that went viral over the summer and has been subject to plenty of ridicule from football fans and other outlets throughout the preseason.
It’s a line that Harris has probably been waiting to use all summer, and thankfully he got to use it. And you imagine that Wilson might be hearing it a few more times between now and the end of the season if the Broncos lose again.
