Arsenal's strong start to the season can help them convince Bukayo Saka to sign a new contract at the Emirates, believes journalist Dean Jones.

The north London club are currently top of the Premier League table after taking 15 points from their first six games.

Saka has less than two years remaining on his Arsenal contract, which is believed to be worth £70,000 a week.

However, manager Mikel Arteta is confident that the 21-year-old will put pen to paper on a new one.

"I am very confident that we as a club and Bukayo, his family, his agent, everybody, we are very much aligned in what we want to achieve. And now it is about putting it on a piece of paper," the Spaniard said last month (via The Independent).

Saka remains a key player for Arsenal, starting in all six of their Premier League games so far.

Jones believes Arsenal's form right now may just convince Saka that the Emirates is the perfect place for him.

Discussing the Gunners' start to the season and the England international's contract situation, the transfer insider told GIVEMESPORT: "It's been ideal for them because the strong start will convince him that this is the place to be at the moment. He's starting every game. He's so important to what Arteta's building."

Why do Arsenal want to hand Saka a new contract?

He is one of their best players - if not the best - and his numbers show it.

Last season, Saka scored 11 goals and provided seven assists in 38 league appearances to help Arsenal make a return to Europe.

As per WhoScored, the England star also averaged 1.8 key passes and won 1.6 fouls per game. When it comes to the former category, Martin Odegaard was the only Arsenal player to have more success, while no one in Arteta's squad could top him in regards to the latter.

All of the above shows the threat Saka brings to Arsenal. When you consider that, and the fact that the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool are thought to be keen on him, it is easy to see why the Gunners want to hand Saka a new contract.

Will they have success? It remains to be seen, but Arteta seems confident, while the north London outfit's start to the season could very well convince Saka that the Emirates is the ideal environment for him.
