Wolves and manager Bruno Lage have to improve quickly, says journalist Dean Jones.

While he does have some sympathy for Lage, Jones thinks the 46-year-old has to get the team firing soon before the Molineux faithful start to turn.

How have Wolves started the season?

Some Wolves supporters are already unhappy with what they have seen from their side so far this campaign, expressing their disapproval at games and online.

The Midlands club have not been terrible, currently sitting 14th in the table. However, they have picked up just one win from six games and are the second-lowest scorers in the Premier League having netted just three goals.

It is a similar theme to last season, where only the relegated trio of Burnley, Watford and Norwich City registered fewer goals than Lage's men.

With Diego Costa recently arriving at Molineux, though, the Portuguese coach will be hoping his side become more potent in attack.

What has Jones said about Lage and Wolves?

Jones doubts Wolves supporters will continue to put up with what they have seen from Lage and their team so far this season.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: "I think there are factors whereby I feel sorry for Lage. But at the same time, as a supporter, you're only going to put up with it for so long. At the end of the day, they've got to improve fast. They're two points above the relegation zone."

Can Wolves improve under Lage?

It is hard to say. In terms of their league position, probably. They came 10th last season and Lage has proven that he can put a solid defence in place.

During the 2021/22 Premier League campaign, Wolves conceded just 43 goals. To put that into perspective, only the division's top four teams - Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham - had tighter defences.

It is going the other way where Wolves have struggled, and they have shown no signs of improvement in that area this term.

Again, things could change following the acquisition of Costa, who scored 52 goals in 89 top-flight appearances during his time with Chelsea.

But Wolves, as a whole, do not look like an outfit who are capable of putting three or four past their opponents, and it is hard to imagine that changing any time soon under Lage based on his Molineux reign so far. So offensively, you just do not see the Premier League side improving drastically with the former Benfica boss at the helm.
