Wolverhampton Wanderers star Diego Costa will be 'horrible' for Premier League defenders to deal with and is set to offer Bruno Lage something different at Molineux, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Although Lage spent more than £120million on refreshing his squad during the summer transfer window, the Wolves head coach was still forced into acquiring Costa earlier this week.

What's the latest news involving Costa?

Costa became the latest fresh face to head to Wolves when he completed his switch to the West Midlands earlier this week.

The striker was able to join his new employers outside of the transfer window due to being a free agent, having left previous club Atletico Mineiro following the termination of his contract in January.

Wolves chairman Jeff Shi hailed Costa following his arrival at Molineux, labelling him a 'serial winner' who will 'bring something unique to our dressing room and on the pitch'.

The move was only completed after the 33-year-old was granted a work permit on appeal, thanks to a Football Association panel overturning the initial decision to deny the former Chelsea man the right to play in England.

Costa moved onto Wolves' radar after Sasa Kalajdzic, who made the £15.5million switch from German outfit Stuttgart last month, suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury on his debut.

What has Dean Jones said about Costa?

Jones believes the addition of Costa will leave Premier League defenders fearful of facing Wolves despite his best days being behind him.

The journalist is interested to see whether the former Atletico Madrid frontman still has the bite he showed while at Chelsea.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "Let's be honest about it, there is no defender in the Premier League that wants to mark Diego Costa. No matter how old he is, he is horrible.

"There aren't many attackers like him left in the game. He is a horrible man to mark and we'll see whether he's still got that edge about him that can give Wolves something else."

Is Costa a good signing for Wolves?

Kalajdzic's injury has left Wolves short of options and, having only scored three goals during the early stages of the Premier League season, it is clear that they needed more firepower.

There is no doubt that Costa is potent in the final third of the pitch as, over the course of 495 appearances throughout his club career, he has found the back of the net on 187 occasions.

The 24-cap Spain international, who previously enjoyed two outings for Brazil, also boasts plenty of Premier League experience.

Costa scored 52 goals in 89 top flight appearances while on Chelsea's books and that should help him settle into his new surroundings.
