FIFA 23 is one of the most anticipated games of the year.

EA Sports’ footballing behemoth is always one of the best-selling games in the UK every calendar year and we don’t expect FIFA 23 to be any different.

The new game releases on September 30, 2022 worldwide, with early access available three days prior, on September 27th.

The game is releasing on all platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

And a new announcement has confirmed that EA Sports are bringing a new system to the game that will weed out cheaters on PC.

FIFA 23 Anti-Cheat System Revealed

The new system is called EA AntiCheat, and is a kernel-level system.

As per The Verge, the system is being launched for all EA games across their PC releases, but it will debut within FIFA 23.

Kernel-level anti-cheat systems utilise software that runs within the core of a computer’s operating system and can detect if players are using another process to give them an unfair advantage, as per Levvvel.

However, there are some concerns over the utilisation of such systems, because the system monitors every single operating process within a computer. That has led to privacy concerns.

However, EA’s senior director of game security and anti-cheat, Elise Murphy, has explained exactly why the developers are implementing the system.

She said, per The Verge: “PC cheat developers have increasingly moved into the kernel, so we need to have kernel-mode protections to ensure fair play and tackle PC cheat developers on an even playing field.

“As tech-inclined video gamers ourselves, it is important to us to make sure that any kernel anti-cheat included in our games acts with a strong focus on the privacy and security of our gamers that use a PC.”

EA believe that the kernel-level protection is “absolutely vital” for games such as FIFA 23, which have a major competitive element, particularly in FUT Champions.

EA have also made it clear that their kernel-level system will stop once the game is closed, limiting the amount of information it will take from player’s browsers.
