Bruna Brasil earned herself a UFC contract on Tuesday night with a vicious head kick knockout on Dana White’s Contender Series.

It’s been said many times before and it’ll continue to be said until we’re blue in the face: the Contender Series is crazy.

As a way to introduce new talent to the Ultimate Fighting Championship, you could make the argument that it is unrivalled. Every single week, we see male and female fighters go out there and put on a real show in the name of finally making it to the big dance.

All they need to do in order to land a place on the main roster is secure a big win that impresses Dana White, who ultimately serves as the ‘final boss’ that decides the fate of the winners and losers.

It’s not uncommon for us to see highlight-reel knockouts, magnificent submissions, great comebacks and absolute slugfests, sometimes all in the same evening.

What is rare, though, is to see a walk-off head kick KO so crisp that it leaves the commentators speechless.

Bruna Brasil came into her fight this week with a lot of expectations on her shoulders and instead of cowering away from that, she decided to go out there and let Marnic Mann know who was in charge.

It took until the final moments of the second round for her to get the job done, but when she did, it immediately grabbed the attention of White and everyone in attendance at the UFC Apex.

She was awarded a contract and from here, will hope to make a quick turnaround and debut in the company’s strawweight division later this year.

Another big week

Dana White has been very, very generous with the number of deals he’s been giving out so far this season and week 8 was no different as all five winners left the arena with a place on the roster.

Daniel Marcos, who had been out of action for a few years, returned and beat Brandon Lewis via decision to earn a crack at the big time.

The other three triumphant prospects that will aim to make an impact in the UFC are Trevor Peek, Ikram Aliskerov and Farid Basharat, the latter of whom is the brother of Javid Basharat who returns to action this weekend.

So if you haven’t been tuning into DWCS so far, we only have one thing to say - what are you waiting for?
