Erling Haaland continued his magnificent start to life at Manchester City by scoring a stunning winning goal against his former club Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night.Jude Bellingham gave Dortmund a surprise lead early in the second half, finding the net with a header from Marco Reus’s cross.City’s players kept their heads and fought back admirably, levelling the scores in the 80th minute courtesy of a thunderbolt from John Stones. However, Stones’ goal was overshadowed by a moment of magic from Haaland, who produced an acrobatic finish to steer Joao Cancelo’s wonderful pass past Alexander Meyer with five minutes left on the clock.

Conceding two goals in the final 10 minutes was a bitter pill to swallow for everyone associated with Dortmund.

But the German club’s manager Edin Terzic will still be pleased with his players’ efforts against arguably the best team in world football.

It was a special night for Haaland and not just because of his goal, which he described as one of his “best ever”.

The Norwegian had the chance to reunite with some of his former colleagues from the Westfalenstadion, including his old pal Bellingham.

Bellingham, who is still just 19 years old, had the privilege of playing alongside Haaland over the previous couple of seasons and was on the same pitch for many of the Norwegian’s 86 goals.

But the teenager now knows what it feels like to be on the receiving end of a Haaland wonder goal.

Pep Guardiola hails Erling Haaland's goal vs Dortmund

"Maybe the people who know me know the influence Johan Cruyff had on my life as a person, a mentor and years ago he scored an incredible goal in Camp Nou for Barcelona against Atletico Madrid," City boss Pep Guardiola said in his post-match press conference, per ESPN.

"The moment Erling scored I thought it was quite, quite similar. I remember my dear friend [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic, who has this ability to put the leg on the roof, and Erling is quite similar in that.

"I think it is his nature, he is elastic, he is flexible and after has the ability to make contact and put the ball in the net. I think his mum and dad give him that flexibility."
