Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo were on the scoresheet as a full-strength Manchester United side comfortably defeated Sheriff Tiraspol 2-0 in the UEFA Europa League.

Erik ten Hag fielded his best XI for the away fixture after the shock 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad at Old Trafford on the competition's first matchday - and it paid dividends.

Sancho opened the scoring in just the 17th minute of play with a clever finish after he was found by a brilliant through ball from the ever impressive Christian Eriksen.

The Englishman's quick feet were simply too hot to handle for the Sheriff players and the successful strike continued his fine start to the campaign.

Video: Sancho's goal vs Sheriff

Are you watching, Gareth Southgate? In case you're unaware, Sancho has been left out of England's latest squad, which was named on Thursday. Jarrod Bowen, Jack Grealish and Mason Mount were all chosen ahead of the in-form United man, which seems a tad bizarre in our opinion.

But the player couldn't have responded to the international setback in better fashion and after his goal, the winger celebrated with a very touching gesture.

Sancho held up his shin pad for the cameras, which was a personalised gift to him from a young United fan.

Sancho's brilliant celebration

Jadon Sancho's celebration for Man Utd goal

Well played, Jadon. We hate to borrow an overused cliche, but the guy 'just gets it'.

As we reported HERE, the former Borussia Dortmund man received the present after signing a programme for the supporter from his car. It really is one of the most wholesome sporting moments of 2022 so far.

And he's now given the youngster another moment that they will never, ever forget and it's no wonder Sancho is quickly becoming a fan favourite at Old Trafford.

United's comfortable win vs Sheriff

Overall, it was a very comfortable night in Moldova for Sancho and United on Thursday, with Sheriff rarely testing goalkeeper David De Gea throughout the course of the match.

The Red Devils probably should have scored more than twice, but a win is a win and Ronaldo's strike from the penalty spot means he's now up to 699 goals at club level.

Will number 700 come in the Manchester derby after the international break? As it's Ronaldo, you certainly wouldn't rule it out.

Although if Marcus Rashford is back fully fit for the game, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner will almost certainly not feature in the starting XI...
