Georges St-Pierre has praised Paddy Pimblett following a strong start to his run in the UFC.

There have been many elite level fighters to walk through the door of the Ultimate Fighting Championship over the years, but very few can be reasonably included in the greatest of all time discussion.

One man who features in such a debate more often than most is none other than Georges St-Pierre.

The former king at both welterweight and middleweight has had one hell of a career in mixed martial arts and even in his post-retirement days, a lot of fans and pundits alike value his opinion on what’s going on in the sport.

The same goes for fighters, too, many of whom watched GSP during his prime and used him as inspiration when they first began training.

Someone who, at this moment in time, is seen as a hot prospect in the UFC, is Paddy Pimblett.

The scouse sensation is 3-0 with the promotion and while he hasn’t quite been up against the best of the elite at lightweight just yet, there’s still a whole lot of buzz surrounding his rise to prominence and where he can go from here.

When asked about ‘The Baddy’ and what he brings to the table during a recent interview, St-Pierre couldn’t help but admit that he’s a fan of his work.

“He’s got all the skills, he’s very charismatic, I can’t wait to see him fight next. He’s got the star power, the skills, the talent, we’ll see what the future holds for him. What a character!”

The long road

Paddy Pimblett has made it clear that he doesn’t want to rush into anything he isn’t ready for, which is a smart idea, considering he’s only 27 years old and probably has a long road ahead of him in the UFC.

He’s managed to finish all three of his opponents so far but as we know, lightweight is a division full of killers, and getting to the top is going to be tricky.

It’s hard to tell what direction he’s going to go in next but based on what we’ve seen, and heard, a December date in Las Vegas looks like a good landing spot for a fighter who is known for making a big entrance.

He’s made some waves on the two London cards this year but now feels like the right time to really push him into the American market.
