Patrick Mahomes: Skip Bayless rips Chiefs QB for 'dangerous' display over Chargers

Patrick Mahomes’ performance against the Los Angeles Chargers was deemed not good enough by FOX Sports broadcaster Skip Bayless.

In a battle for AFC West supremacy and a game that could ultimately end up going a long way to deciding what will happen to the playoff picture in the AFC when the playoffs come around, the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Los Angeles Chargers in a thrilling game on Thursday night.

The game, as you probably would expect, was dominated by the play of the two young quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert who put up a combined 569 yards in passing and 5 touchdowns on the night in a game that had plenty of twists and turns.

The Chiefs would ultimately come out on top, and part of that was thanks to the play of Mahomes who put together some incredible plays on the night right when his team needed him the most.

Mahomes the magician… again

Spectacular runs and throws have become something of the norm for Mahomes since he arrived in Kansas City, but when you consider the importance of the game, even if it was only in Week 2, the fact he was able to pull these plays off was nothing short of impressive.

He got the Chiefs their first points of the night after an electric run that saw him avoid a couple of tackles before offloading to Jerick McKinnon to get their first touchdown on the night with a delicate little flick.

What number does Patrick Mahomes wear?

And in perhaps an even better touchdown, he put on an inch-perfect throw that just evaded the fingertips of Chargers safety J.C. Jackson to give the Chiefs life midway through the 3rd quarter.

However those plays weren’t deemed good enough for Skip Bayless, who shredded Mahomes for his display overall, hinting that he was a little bit reckless and that on another day things could have gone differently.

Video: Skip Bayless slams Patrick Mahomes’ performance:

Now Mahomes was technically outplayed last night, with Herbert having more yards, 334 v 235, more touchdowns, 3 v 2 and a fractionally better completion rate, 68.75 v 68.57, but it wasn’t as if Mahomes embarrassed himself, and when you look at the plays he made, you can see that there is MVP potential there.

So perhaps this was an example of Bayless looking for an argument when in reality there was no argument that needed to be made.
