Premier League and Football League action roared back into life this weekend after matches were put on hold following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

Authorities moved swiftly to postpone all fixtures following the death of the United Kingdom's longest-reigning monarch as football games across the board were postponed.

England Cricket, meanwhile, took a different path, paying a lovely tribute to The Queen before becoming the first team to sing 'God Save the King' ahead of a sporting fixture.

Now, a week later, football is following suit with Premier League games up and down the country paying tribute to Her majesty.

Manchester United and England legend, David Beckham, hit the headlines yesterday after he waited in the queue to the see the Queen lying in state for over 12 hours.

However, not of all the tributes have gone according to plan - just ask the folks down at Chesham Football Club.

Stadium announcer at Chesham sings 'God save the King' himself

The non-league club were hosting an FA Cup clash with Bracknell when they realised they had a bit of a problem on their hands.

What was it? The only recording of the national anthem they had was the previous iteration which sings 'God save the Queen', instead of 'God save the King'.

As they scrambled for a solution, the stadium announcer stepped up, deciding to belt out the national anthem himself across the tannoy.

The footage, which you can check out in the clip below, is quite possibly the most non-league thing to happen in quite some time.

Premier League action back underway

Elsewhere in England, Erling Haaland continued on his merry way as he found the back of the et once again for Manchester City.

It proved to be a frightfully simply afternoon for the Citizens, especially after Nathan Collins was sent off for a quite horrific challenge on the man who opened the scoring, Jack Grealish.

City really are going to take some stopping this season, especially with Haaland plundering goals for fun up front.

If he continues to tear opposing defenders apart, then it is very likely that City will be the first Premier League champions crowned in the reign of King Charles.
