WWE Superstar Erik, part of The Viking Raiders, is out of action "indefinitely" through injury.

During last night's episode of Friday Night SmackDown, it was announced that Erik has sustained a foot injury and will be out of action for some time.

Erik hasn't been seen on WWE TV since The Viking Raiders beat New Day in a 'Viking Rules match' on the August 26 episode of SmackDown.

Erik is out of action with a serious injury right now?

Last night's SmackDown was main evented by a four-way tag team match between New Day, Hit Row, Imperium and The Brawling Brutes.

Butch and Ridge Holland of The Brawling Brutes won the match, earning them a shot at Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos, which takes place next week.

During the match an announcement was also made on the status of Erik, with many questioning why he wasn't in the match after Viking Raiders' victory over New Day last month.

Michael Cole explained that Erik is dealing with a foot injury right now, and will subsequently be out of action "indefinitely", which explains why he and Ivar weren't selected to be part of the match, via WrestleTalk.

How long will Erik be out of action for?

This news will come as a blow to Erik, with it being unclear just how long the former NXT Tag Team Champion is going to be out of action for.

However, the fact that WWE hasn't placed a timescale upon his return certainly makes it seem like Erik will be out for a prolonged period of time.

What plans did Triple H have for The Viking Raiders in WWE?

As of right now, it's unclear what plans Head of Creative Triple H had for The Viking Raiders in WWE.

However, Triple H booked the pair, who went by War Raiders at the time, as one of NXT's most dominant tag teams ever during their time on the brand with him, which ended in 2019.

In fact, The Raiders were booked so well that even when they were called up to WWE's main roster in April 2019, Triple H didn't want to beat them, so decided to have them vacate their NXT Tag Team title instead.

So you have to expect that Triple H will have had big plans in store for Erik and Ivar now that he's running WWE Creative, although those will obviously have to be shelved while Erik recovers from his foot injury.
