Edge is set to return to TV before too long, a new report on the WWE Hall of Famer has claimed.
Edge was brutally attacked during this week's episode of Raw, with it being announced that he'd suffered a grade two MCL sprain following an assault from Judgement Day.
Due to the brutal nature of the attack, and the fact he's on a part-time contract, fans speculated that Edge may be missing from TV for quite some time.
The latest on WWE's plans for Edge
However, a new report from Ringside News has claimed that despite speculation to the contrary, Edge is slated to be back on TV before too long.
The report notes that the multi-time WWE Champion is expected to be back on Raw sooner rather than later, as you can see below.
Ringside News asked around about Edge’s injury status and how long he will be out of action. We were told two days ago that “he won’t be out for long.”
In fact, the report goes on to acknowledge that Edge isn't even expected to miss a Premium Live Event, with the Rated-R Superstar set to be back by Extreme Rules on October 8.
Who will Edge face at WWE Extreme Rules
The report didn't specify whether or not Edge is going to wrestle at Extreme Rules, but fans have speculated that it's likely he'll be working the show if WWE wants to have him return before then.
If Edge does wrestle at the show, it's almost certain that he'll go one-on-one with Finn Balor in a highly-anticipated singles match.
When Balor replaced Edge in Judgement Day back in June, fans speculated that the final goal of the feud between the wrestling icon and his former faction would be for him to face the Irishman.
The match hasn't happened yet, despite the feud going on for close to four months now, with Edge instead working tag matches, or singles matches against Dominik Mysterio and Damian Priest.
The likely outcome at Extreme Rules is that Edge will face Balor in a single match, putting over the former Universal Champion to end the feud.
However, if the match doesn't happen at Extreme Rules, there's every chance that it takes place at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on November 5, given that WWE likes to load those shows with top talent.
