Current WBC world heavyweight champion, or recently retired boxer depending on who you believe, Tyson Fury has broken his social media silence by posting a respectful message on social media ahead of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral later today. The two-time world heavyweight champion revealed that his recent social media silence has been out of mourning and respect for Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away on September 8, at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire. The 34-year-old heavyweight took to Instagram today, however, to explain his social media silence, and to give his respects to The Queen and condolences to the Royal Family.Fury said in his post to Instagram: “Hey guys, Queen’s funeral today. I’ve been off social media for the past 10 days mourning, in respect for our Queen who has died. Not posting nothing, not been interested in anything else to be fair. Hope all the funeral goes well, condolences to the full family, and may she rest in heaven for eternity. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.”

A recent video circulating online, filmed by a passer-by, also showed Fury paying his respects by laying flowers outside Buckingham Palace with his wife Paris last Thursday.

Making the trip all the way down to London from his Morecambe home shows the respect ‘The Gypsy King’ has for Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest ever reigning monarch.

And especially at a very busy time for Fury, with the number one ranked heavyweight currently locked in negotiations with Anthony Joshua to make a blockbuster bout that the fans have been craving for years.

Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua latest news

The two British heavyweights have already agreed on a date, December 3, and the financial split for the fight, which sees Fury receiving the better end of a 60-40 split.

Eddie Hearn, meanwhile, has recently revealed that Joshua believes this is his only chance to fight long-time rival Fury, explaining: “He thinks: this is my only chance, because if he fights Usyk, win or lose, I think he'll retire or you never know with Fury, he could just never fight again.”

And for many, following Joshua’s back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk, only a huge win against the like of Tyson Fury would restore AJ’s place as one of the great heavyweights, and would get his career back on track.

Whether the fight does happen remains to be seen, but for today, all attention and focus is on Queen Elizabeth II's funeral.
