Leicester City would consider making a move for Brentford manager Thomas Frank if they decide to sack Brendan Rodgers, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Rodgers is coming under increasing pressure following a very disappointing start to the season at the King Power Stadium and may need to turn things around quickly in order to keep his job.

What is the latest news involving Leicester?

Leicester are currently marooned at the bottom of the Premier League table after picking up just one point from their opening seven top-flight fixtures.

A 6-2 thrashing at the hand of Tottenham Hotspur last time out made in six consecutive league defeats for the Foxes, and Rodgers addressed speculation surrounding his future after the humiliating loss.

“I'll respect whatever the decision is,” said the Northern Irish tactician. “I think if you saw the first half, you'll see the confidence and attacking play”.

The Telegraph reported in the aftermath of Leicester’s latest setback that Rodgers’ position is under ‘serious scrutiny’ and that he is now facing an ‘anxious wait’ over the international break to see what decision the hierarchy make.

It’s claimed that Frank is seen as a potential successor, but that compensation could be an issue as the Midlands outfit struggle to stay within Financial Fair Play limits.

What has Jones said about Frank?

Jones believes that Frank would ‘be considered’ to fill the void in the Leicester dugout if Rodgers’ is dismissed but also reckons the 48-year-old would need convincing over the switch.

He told GiveMeSport: “Yeah, he is certainly one of the early names that would be considered as a replacement if Rodgers does not survive this 6-game run of defeats.

“But at the same time, they would have to convince him that Leicester is a step up from where he is now.”

Would Frank be a good appointment?

Frank was appointed as Brentford’s boss in October 2018 and has overseen one of the most successful periods in the club’s history since then.

The Dane guided the west London outfit to the Premier League for the first time in their history in 2020/21 before comfortably cementing their place in the top-flight last term.

In his 199 games in charge of the Bees, Frank has claimed 93 victories and 42 draws, averaging 1.61 points per game, establishing himself as one of the most highly-regarded managers in England.

With three years remaining on his contract at the Brentford Community Stadium, Leicester may find prising him away from the capital club to be an extremely difficult task.
