Buffalo Bills fullback Reggie Gilliam just would not be stopped as he scored a touchdown on the opening drive against the Tennessee Titans.

The Buffalo Bills come across as the team of ‘destiny’ this year, having been on the rise in the past few years, in large part due to the play of quarterback Josh Allen, who is being tipped by many to be the league’s MVP whilst the Bills themselves are many people’s favourites for the Super Bowl.

But whilst Allen might get a lot of the credit, the truth is that the Bills have assembled arguably the best roster in the NFL, with an explosive offense that contains the likes of Stefon Diggs at wide receiver and Devin Singletary coming out of the backfield, whilst also boasting a stout defence that led the league in terms of yards allowed last season, and that’s before they added likely future Hall of Famer Von Miller to that side of the ball.

As a result, you really have to keep your eye on anybody and everybody when it comes to this Bills side, as any one of them can cause you damage, and that’s exactly what happened on the Bills’ first drive of the game as they scored the game’s opening touchdown, but it came from an unlikely source.

Fullbacks on the comeback

The role of fullback is something that is slowly making a comeback in recent years, having for the most part gone away in many teams' offenses as they started to favour passing the ball rather than running it, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t still teams that utilise them.

Arguably the biggest name when it comes to the full-back room is Kyle Juszczyk who has made a career out of clearing a path for the running back behind him both for the Baltimore Ravens and more recently the San Francisco 49ers.

But when you’re a part of the Bills offense that is looking to take the league by storm then there’s a good chance that your name is going to be up in lights sooner rather than later and on the lips of everyone in the NFL, and that’s exactly what happened to Reggie Gilliam against the Tennessee Titans.

Reggie Gilliam announces himself

On the Bills’ opening drive of the game, Gilliam took the ball out of the backfield on a screen pass from Allen and looked to be in trouble right away, but a mixture of excellent footwork and great upper body strength meant that he could shove off the would-be tacklers before running into the endzone.

This was only Gilliam’s second touchdown in the NFL having been in the league since 2020, but with moves like this, don’t be surprised to see him more involved from here on out.
