Arsenal: Arteta makes huge decision over teenage talent at the Emirates

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta applauds fans

Arsenal have no plans to sell Marquinhos any time soon and only want to loan him out, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The winger arrived at the Emirates during the summer transfer window, and Jones says he is “highly thought of” in that part of north London.

What is the latest news involving Marquinhos?

Earlier this month, The Sun reported that Arsenal are considering loaning Marquinhos out in January.

The Brazilian, who joined the Gunners from Sao Paulo back in June, has been getting some minutes under Mikel Arteta.

He came on in the recent 3-0 win against Brentford and started in the 2-1 Europa League victory over FC Zurich, where he scored.

However, it appears that Arsenal believe Marquinhos can develop even faster if he is getting regular game time at another club.

What has Jones said about Marquinhos and Arsenal?

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Arsenal’s plan is to send Marquinhos somewhere else temporarily before reintegrating him back into the squad.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “The idea is that the first part of this season, he’s been part of things. He understands the vision that’s in place. He then goes away to implement everything that he’s learned from this season and make an impact somewhere else – preferably in a team that plays a similar style to Arsenal – and then they would look for him to return and make his mark.

“I don’t think he’s going anywhere long-term. He’s highly thought of. They just want to make sure they manage the situation carefully.”

Should Arsenal loan out Marquinhos in January?

If Marquinhos joins another club who are able to give him minutes week in, week out, then that can only be beneficial for his development.

The 19-year-old, who has been described as a “talented winger” by Fabrizio Romano, is probably not going to get that at Arsenal this season.

Dennis Bergkamp - Arsenal

Which year did Dennis Bergkamp leave Arsenal?

With Arteta having the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli to call upon, it is going to be hard for the former Sao Paolo star to break into the Spaniard’s starting XI.

From Arsenal’s perspective, though, it is a long campaign and one where the Premier League outfit are competing in the Europa League. That extra body in attack could come in handy.

Whatever the case, it seems that Marquinhos has a big future at the Emirates and was not bought just to be sold for profit in a couple of years’ time.
