The Philadelphia Eagles could have a quarterback in Jalen Hurts who could take the next step into being a great quarterback in the league, Kyle Brandt has hinted.

The Philadelphia Eagles have slowly but surely been making a comeback as a force in the NFL. Following their three-year stretch from 2017-2019 in which they made the playoffs three times, famously beating the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII in the first of those years, 2020 saw them take a major step back.

A 4-11-1 season saw them finish 4th in a rather poor NFC East that saw the Washington Commanders win it with a 7-9 record, but after a number of changes for the long-term, including moving on former franchise quarterback Carson Wentz and head coach Doug Pederson, both of whom were crucial to their Super Bowl victory, they rebounded in 2021 under the stewardship of Nick Siriani as head coach.

But perhaps the biggest change cam on the field as they turned to the man they hoped would be their quarterback of the future in Jalen Hurts, who had a very impressive full debut season in the league completing 61.3% of his passes, throwing for 3,144 yards and 16 touchdowns whilst also adding a further 784 yards and 10 touchdowns with his feet, unleashing the full dual-threat capabilities that he showed in college at Alabama and Oklahoma.

The Jalen Hurts train keeps hurtling down the track

Having firmly established himself in the league, the Eagles are doing everything that they can in order to make him successful, trading for Tennessee Titans wide receiver A. J. Brown this offseason to go across from the already established and impressive DeVonta Smith who they acquired in the draft last year.

And it seems as if this new offense is cooking with some serious gas as they have made a very impressive start to the season, already scoring 62 points in their first two games against the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings, and it’s against that latter opponent that NFL Network analyst Kyle Brandt believes that Hurts truly announced himself on the NFL stage with his performance.

He gave his view on Good Morning Football after Hurts put up a very impressive stat line of 26-31, 333 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 57 rushing yards and 2 rushing TDs on Monday Night Football.

The Eagles are now 2-0 to start the season and certainly on the offensive side of the ball at least look as if they could put on a match against anybody in the league if they put their minds to it with Hurts acting as the orchestrator.

The only question now is whether or not they’ll be able to keep it up over the course of the season.
