Tottenham Hotspur ‘have looked at’ Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar ‘under several managers’, according to journalist Paul Brown.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from San Siro in recent months after entering the final year of his current contract with several European giants credited with an interest.

What is the latest news involving Skriniar?

French outlet L’Equipe (via TEAMtalk) revealed that Paris Saint-Germain saw two bids worth £43.6 million (€50m) and £47.9m (€55m) knocked back by Inter over the summer for Skriniar.

And transfer guru Fabrizio Romano recently disclosed in his column for CaughtOffside that the Ligue 1 giants are the ‘most interested’ in the Slovakia international despite speculation surrounding a handful of Premier League clubs.

“There’s a lot of talk at the moment of English clubs,” wrote Romano. “But my understanding is that the most interested in Milan Skriniar remains Paris Saint-Germain.

“Manchester City and Spurs have not made any proposal or approach, while Chelsea were focused on signing Wesley Fofana this summer.”

However, Football Insider have recently claimed that Tottenham are set to rival Real Madrid for Skriniar’s signature next summer when he will be available on a free transfer.

What has Brown said about Skriniar?

In an interview with GiveMeSport, Brown said: “He's someone that Spurs have looked at under several managers, and he's had chances to move to the Premier League, but for whatever reason, it hasn't happened yet.

“If he still wants to play in this country, he’s certainly going to get chances again because there will be other clubs who may take a look into it on a free as he’ll become massively attractive to more than just the usual suspects when the top clubs are looking for a defender.

“But I don't think his situation is clear really at all. It may be that he decides to stay where he is, or stay or stay in Italy at least, so I think we'll have to let that one play itself out.”

How good is Skriniar?

Skriniar has formed a formidable partnership alongside Alessandro Bastoni and Stefan de Vrij in recent years, playing a pivotal part in Inter claiming one Serie A title and one Italian Cup, leading to him being labelled an "absolute beast".

The 6 foot 2 has managed to maintain his form in the current campaign as well despite the continued speculation surrounding his future.

As per WhoScored, Skriniar has averaged 0.9 interceptions, 1.6 clearances and 1.3 blocks per top-flight fixture, placing him in the top three for each metric compared to his teammates who have started over one league game.
