What’s the latest news involving Martinelli?
Arsenal signed the promising youngster for £6m from Ituano more than three years ago, but he’s only now starting to prove his worth on a regular basis.
Martinelli has registered 21 goals and 13 assists in 92 appearances for the Gunners, with three of those strikes coming this season to help Mikel Arteta’s team emerge as the early pacesetters.
As a result, Arsenal are ‘pushing hard’ to agree a new contract with the 21-year-old, who’s current deal runs out in the summer of 2024.
According to 90min, they’re ready to reward Martinelli for his progression with an improved offer.
The forward currently earns £90,000 per-week, which puts him amongst the highest paid players at the club, but a new contract would surely see him paid more than six figures every week.
What did Brown say about Martinelli?
Brown reckons that with Martinelli quickly becoming a key part of Arteta’s plans, the club’s hierarchy must act in the appropriate way when it comes to negotiating a deal.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think he’s a huge, huge prospect. I think he has all the tools to become a great player.
“I think Arsenal need him around for the long term and they need to show him that he’s going to be a crucial player for them over the next few seasons. I think they can do that by making him the right offer.”
How has Martinelli performed this season?
We might be just seven games into the campaign, but the Brazilian is already on course to beat his previous best Premier League goal return of six.
If Martinelli continues performing at a consistent level, with Bukayo Saka and Jesus already established top-flight players, Arteta’s side could be a force to be reckoned with this season.
