The wildly popular franchise is set to release its latest instalment later this month, which is coming out before September is out. It will release worldwide on September 30th, 2022, but early access will be available from the 27th for players who have pre-ordered specific editions.
The game’s developers, EA Sports, have continually drip-fed information to fans thus far, including ratings of the top players and trailers featuring glimpses of new features.
The web app is also set to release on Wednesday as we edge ever closer to the game finally hitting storefronts across the globe.
And it now seems that Richmond and their boss could also be included in the game…
Ted Lasso FIFA 23 Hint
The speculation has gone into overdrive after a tweet from Ted Lasso’s official account.
They wrote on Tuesday evening: “Look out, Mario! You’re not the only pixelated man with a moustache who never knows where the tube is taking him…”
EA Sports FIFA then poured fuel on the fire, with a response. They merely posted the looking eyes emoji.
FIFA has always leaned heavily into authenticity but they have previously added teams such as a Classic XI, made up of icons from across the sport, as well as World XIs and a Soccer Aid-inspired XI.
And it now seems that we could also see Richmond in the game, or at the very least, have Ted Lasso as a potential managerial option.
The show, which airs on Apple TV, has been a roaring success since its first episode airing in August of 2020.
It follows the eponymous Ted, an American football coach with very little understanding of the English game, as he is appointed Richmond manager by their owner, as she attempts to get back at her ex-husband.
It has been a critical and commercial smash and has won 11 Emmy awards in total, and has also won a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
It would be remarkable to see the team included in the game; we’ll let you know when we receive any kind of confirmation!
