Very few fighters in any combat sport possess the charisma that Conor McGregor does, a man known for being an iconic quote bandit.

The 32-year-old’s lines have become internet folklore with many of his hilariously brilliant smack-talk moments being turned into meme of the year candidates.

McGregor (22-6) is thought to be making his long awaited return to the big stage of the UFC in 2023 and will no doubt be talking all kinds of trash to his next opponent.

With all that being said, let’s take a look at the very best of the 34-year-old’s best quotes.

10 of Conor McGregor’s most iconic quotes

“We’re not here to take part, we’re here to take over.”

In July 2014, McGregor stepped into the Octagon with Diego Brandao on the way to becoming a contender for the UFC Featherweight championship.

This took place in Dublin, Ireland, otherwise known as McGregor country, at UFC Fight Night 46 and he won KO in some style during the first round.

“I own this town”

“I don’t give a s- what people say. I never did. I never do. I told before the fight I was the s- and I’m telling you right now, I’m the s-. I own this town. I own Rio de Janeiro.”

In the months leading up to his fight with Jose Aldo which was set to take place in July that same year, McGregor shot this odd comment the Brazilian’s way in the first press conference of many on a world tour.

“We’re rich, baby”

“When you sign to fight me, it’s a celebration. You ring back home, you ring your wife. ‘Baby, we’ve done. We’re rich, baby. Conor McGregor made us rich. Break out the red panties.’”

McGregor uttered this golden couple of sentences in a press conference dubbed “Go Big” in September of 2015, which included focus on McGregor vs Aldo at UFC 194 in December.

“Cuddle him, look after him”

“Just please show up December 12. I don’t want to scare him anymore. He’s petrified. He went running before.

“So I’m going to take the opposite approach: Cuddle him, look after him, whisper sweet nothings, tell him it’s going to be all right. It will be over quick.”

McGregor spouted this one at the very same presser and said he would make sure that Aldo did indeed make the event.

He was right in saying it would be over quick, because McGregor did in fact KO Aldo in just 13 seconds.

“Who the f- is that guy?”

This is arguably the most iconic famous quote ever said by the man himself – and it’s the sixth anniversary of this very quote as well.

A reporter would ask a question, but would be cut off by Jeremy Stephens who believed he could give McGregor at tough fight and was one of the most powerful punchers in the featherweight division at the time.

Of course, McGregor turned around and repeated the line once more and that put an end to that.

“I run this whole thing, I run New York.”

“I run this whole thing. I run New York. I run this whole ship. Without me, none of this happens. I run this whole s-. Everyone in this game does what they’re f-ing told except for me and rightly f-ing so.”

This also took place at the very same event as the previous quote, McGregor talked about most fighters wanting and dreaming to be on a similar pedestal as him.

“I’d like to take this chance to apologise”

“And I’d like to apologise from the bottom of my heart, I’d like to take this chance to apologise – to absolutely nobody! The double champ does what the f- he wants!”

Definitely one of the more WWE-type promo lines, but a killer one at that too, McGregor had just taken down Alvarez to win the lightweight crown and was holding two belts simultaneously, which was a first in the company’s history.

“You can’t even read!”

Conor McGregor has a go at Floyd Mayweather

“How do I look? What the f- is he wearing? He looks like a little breakdancer or something, a little 12-year-old breakdancer, f-! What the f-? He’s 40! You’re 40 years of age. Dress your f-ing age.

“Carrying a schoolbag on stage. What you doing with a schoolbag on stage? You can’t even read! Forty years old carrying a schoolbag. The man doesn’t even f-ing read.”

This is a bit more playground insults being thrown around, but this didn’t stop the charismatic man from the UFC man delivering some elite level trash talk to boxing legend Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather.

“Gods recognise gods”

“Me and Jesus are cool. I’m cool with all the gods. Gods recognise gods.”

In this particular press show, McGregor was delivering one-liner after one-liner and all of them were worthy of some props.
