Floyd Mayweather Jr. is undoubtedly one of the greatest boxers of all-time.
The Grand Rapids-born American retired with an undefeated record having won multiple world titles, from super featherweight to light middleweight.
Mayweather also knew his worth and how to market himself, he didnât earn the nickname âMoneyâ for nothing. He has claimed recently that he has earned over $100 million from exhibition bouts.
According to the Daily Mail he previously described exhibition fights as âlegalised bank robberies.â
He has also claimed he will earn between $15-20million for his exhibition fight against Japanese MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura this weekend and is quoted as saying â9 minutes, 20 million, not badâ.
Mayweather has also spoken about facing Conor McGregor in an exhibition bout in 2023.
Back in 2017 the pair faced each other in a boxing match, which Mayweather won on TKO in the tenth round despite McGregor giving a good account of himself.
Conor McGregor debunks Floyd Mayweather's big-money claim
And âNotoriousâ, never short of an opinion, has challenged Mayweatherâs recent boast on his earning from exhibitions in a Tweet which has since been deleted.
McGregor claims that Mayweather, âHasnât cleared $20 million in 1 full year since 2017â, this being when they fought the last time.
His reasoning behind this being that Mayweather hasnât made the top 100 on the Forbes list since then. The Irishman is also dismissive of Mayweatherâs opponents suggesting the match with Logan Paul was little more than a sparring session.
Many comments on the post are of the opinion that Mayweather has always had a tendency to inflate figures when discussing his earnings.

Others feel that McGregor should keep quiet and be grateful as he profited hugely from their previous bout, and will do again if they fight again.
Will there be a second McGregor v Mayweather fight?
As talk of a second fight between the two hots up, many fans, tired of former greats going into exhibition bouts have reacted to the news by simply asking: âWhy?â
However, a potential rematch would be incredibly lucrative for both men. âThe Money Fightâ, as their first confrontation was known made history as the second most lucrative bout in the history of combat sports.
Mayweather is open to the idea of it being a boxing match, where his undefeated record would be on the line, or an exhibition.
He has hinted that he would prefer an exhibition. And âMoneyâ couldnât resist a little dig at his old rival, saying that:
Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor 2: Everything we know so far
âIâm not into fights where Iâm going to take any real punishment. So, guys like Conor McGregor and guys that donât really hit hard such as YouTubers or UFC guys, I donât really mind colliding with those kinds of individuals but nothing where I am going to put myself in a position where I am going to harm myself or hurt myself.â
Whatever form the fight takes one thing is certain. Both men are in for a big payday.
