Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is hugely admired by Bayern Munich, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a move to the six-time European champions in recent weeks, sparking renewed speculation over where his long-term future lies.

What is the latest news involving Kane?

Kane previously attempted to force through a move to Manchester City in the summer of 2021 before he was reintegrated into the Tottenham side, eventually finding his best form again under Antonio Conte.

However, reliable Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has claimed that the England international’s brother and agent Charlie Kane has already made ‘contact’ with Munich over a potential switch.

“The discussions have already begun,” said Plettenberg. “He is the number one top target. There was contact between Bayern and Charlie Kane. Harry Kane can really, really imagine joining Bayern.”

Kane’s current £200,000-per-week contract is due to expire in the summer of 2024, meaning Tottenham may be forced to sell their prized asset soon if he refuses to put pen to paper on fresh terms.

What has Sheth said about Kane?

Despite admitting Spurs are enjoying a healthy relationship with Kane once again, Sheth told GiveMeSport: “That's not to say that Bayern Munich aren't interested. And they are, as I've been told by the Sky Germany reporters, a ‘number nine club’. They love a number nine.

“They've had one of the best in the business for the last seven or eight years in Robert Lewandowski, who's now left, and now they're trying to play in a different way. They've brought in Sadio Mane, not necessarily playing with someone like Lewandowski.

“They tried to get Erling Haaland, but that was never going to happen once City had come in with that bid and whatever they were paying him in wages.

“But it hasn't really started as well as they would have liked in the Bundesliga, at least anyway, for Bayern Munich. And so, I think they’ll be looking at that position to strengthen, and they've been huge admirers of Harry Kane for a long, long time.”

How has Kane been playing this season?

Kane has made a fast start to the current campaign for Tottenham, registering six goals and one assist in nine appearances across all competitions.

As per WhoScored, the immensely talented star has also averaged 3.4 shots and 2.3 key passes per top-flight fixture, tallies that better all of his teammates.

Losing Kane would be a bitter blow for what manager Antonio Conte is trying to achieve at Tottenham, and he’ll surely be hoping he signs a new contract.
