Kylian Mbappe scored a stunning solo goal for France vs Austria on Thursday evening.

Les Bleus went into the game winless in this season’s Nations League campaign and in serious danger of relegation from League 1 Group A.

France were dominant in the first half at Stade de France but could not find a way past an inspired Patrick Pentz.

The deadlock was finally broken by Mbappe in the 56th minute – and he did so in some style.

The PSG star picked the ball up roughly 40 yards from Austria’s goal.

He drove at Austria’s defence, jinked inside past a number of opponents, and then unleashed a powerful effort that found its way into the net.

It was a moment of pure brilliance from Mbappe and you can view it below…

Mbappe really is a cheat code. What a player.

He waltzed past Austria’s defence like they weren’t even there.

That was his 11th goal of the season already. If he keeps up his incredible form, he has to be a real contender to win his first Ballon d’Or trophy in 2023.

Olivier Giroud doubled France’s lead nine minutes later as he notched his 49th goal for his country.

Antoine Griezmann crossed the ball in and Olivier Giroud powered his header past Pentz and into the top corner.

The AC Milan striker is now just two goals away from matching Thierry Henry’s all-time goals record for France.

France moved out of Nations League relegation zone

There were no further goals as France held on to their 2-0 lead and picked up a vital three points.

France have now moved above Austria and up to third in the group with just one game remaining.

A win against Denmark in Copenhagen on Sunday will assure France of safety.
